In Genesis 13:13, Abraham knew Lot was making a mistake by moving to the corrupt city of Sodom, which was “exceedingly wicked.” God decided to destroy the city but first sent two angels to rescue Lot and his family. When the angels arrived, Lot invited them into his home for safety, but a mob gathered, demanding to harm them. The angels revealed their true identity and struck the mob with blindness.
The next morning, the angels urged Lot and his family to flee, warning them not to look back. Lot’s wife, however, looked back at Sodom and was turned into a pillar of salt. God then rained fire and brimstone on the cities, destroying them. Only Lot and his two daughters were spared.
The Bible warns that the last days will resemble the days of Sodom, with similar judgment awaiting the wicked.
